Blend 85

Blend 85 brings together multiple high-quality Yemeni Arabica varieties grown across the highlands of Sana’a and Ibb Governorates. The coffee develops its character in diverse terrains, from terraced mountains to intermountain plains, nurtured by rainfall, natural irrigation, and traditional farming practices. Trees are cared for with composted animal manure and forest leaves, and pest control relies on smoke from local wood and plant-based sprays. Harvested by hand, the cherries are sun-dried, hulled, sorted, and graded to produce an organic, specialty-grade green coffee with a complex, balanced flavor. The coffee grows at altitudes between 1,700 and 2,400 meters, under 30 to 70 percent shade, in clay loam and sandy clay loam soils with pH 7 to 8. Irrigation comes from rain, wells, springs, spate systems, and caravans, with trees planted at a density of around 2,000 per hectare. Harvesting takes place from September to March across 1,700 hectares, involving 615 farmers from 502 households.
